How the forms differ

A balm is thick and wax-based and stays on the skin longest. A gel is water-based, absorbs fast and leaves a cool or warm sensation depending on the ingredients — menthol or capsaicin. A roll-on is the same formula in a hands-free pack. A massage oil is the most fluid and covers a large area.

How to read the amount

The pack states the total cannabidiol for the whole product — 750 mg in 100 ml of balm, for instance. That is not a serving: how much you apply depends on the area. To compare two products, work out the concentration — milligrams per millilitre — rather than the total, because pack sizes differ.

What else is in the formula

Most products combine hemp extract with familiar ingredients: menthol, camphor, arnica, magnesium, essential oils. Those ingredients have their own effect on how the skin feels and are listed in the composition. Cannabidiol is one ingredient, not the whole product.

Does a cannabis cream enter the bloodstream?

Is there THC in these products?

Every batch carries a lab report where THC is measured. In broad spectrum and isolate products it is below the detection limit; in full spectrum it is a trace under 0.2%.

Why are some gels cooling and others warming?

Because of the additional ingredients: menthol gives a cool sensation, camphor and capsaicin a warm one. Cannabidiol is not responsible for the temperature sensation.

Can I use a topical and an oil at the same time?

These are different forms with different routes — external and oral. If you take medicines, combining them is a question for a doctor, not a shop.

How is a cannabis balm stored?

In the dark at room temperature with the lid closed. Waxy balms soften in the heat — that is normal and does not change the composition.

Does it smell of hemp?

It depends on the extract. Full and broad spectrum products keep terpenes and smell grassier; isolate products have no characteristic smell.

Which topical suits a large area?

Massage oils — they are the most fluid and spread easily. Balms and roll-ons suit smaller areas.
