Topicals differ from oils in how they are taken: they are not swallowed but applied to the skin and stay where they are put. So the milligrams in a tube do not compare directly with the milligrams in a bottle of oil — these are different routes.

The category covers balms, roll-ons and massage oils. A balm is the thickest and stays longest, a roll-on is for precise application without using your hands, a massage oil covers a large area.

The formula usually carries menthol, camphor or arnica alongside the cannabidiol — those give the cooling or warming sensation. Not for broken skin, mucous membranes or the area around the eyes.
