CBD oils: strength, spectrum and volume

An oil with a dropper is the most flexible format: the amount moves a drop at a time, and a serving is worked out from the milligrams in the bottle. A millilitre holds about 20 drops, so a 10 ml bottle gives roughly 200. Divide the total milligrams by that and you have milligrams per drop — the only number by which two bottles compare honestly.

Strengths in the catalogue run from 5% to 40%. A higher strength is not "better": it means more cannabidiol in the same volume, so fewer drops for the same serving and a bottle that lasts longer. For a first purchase a lower strength is easier precisely because it adjusts in small steps.

Volume is a separate decision: a 10 ml and a 30 ml bottle at the same percentage give an identical drop and differ only in how long they last. Spectrum is the third — full spectrum keeps the whole plant profile with traces of THC, broad spectrum has no detectable THC, isolate is cannabidiol alone.

How many milligrams are in one drop?

The milligrams in the bottle divided by roughly 20 drops per millilitre. For a 10 ml bottle with 1000 mg that is about 5 mg a drop; for 2000 mg, about 10 mg.

10 ml or 30 ml — which is stronger?

Neither. At the same percentage the drop is identical. The larger bottle simply lasts longer.

How is dropper oil taken?

Sublingually: the drops are held under the tongue for about a minute, then swallowed. Shake the bottle before use.

Are CBD oil and hemp oil the same?

Not always. Hemp seed oil is a food oil with no cannabidiol. CBD oil is an extract from flower and leaf where cannabidiol is measured and recorded in the report. The check is one line in the protocol.

What does “cannabis oil” mean in a shop?

In Bulgaria it is the common name for the same product — an extract with cannabidiol in a carrier oil. Look for the percentage and the milligrams: they say what is inside, the name on the label does not.

Which percentage should I choose first?

A lower percentage doses in smaller steps, because one drop carries fewer milligrams. If you are comparing price, work out the price per milligram, not per bottle.

How long does the oil keep once opened?

The date is on the pack. Store it in the dark at room temperature with the cap closed — light and heat are what break the composition down.

Why do oils taste different?

Because of the terpenes and the carrier oil. Full and broad spectrum keep terpenes and taste grassier; isolate has no taste.
